Chana Pulao Vegan Veg Rice with Chickpeas Recipes
Ingredients:
2 cups basmati rice
1 can chickpeas/chola/garbanzo/kabule chana
2 tomatoes medium size chopped
1 large onion chopped
3 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds/ zeera
1 small cinnamon stick / dal chini
4-5 black peppercorn / kali mirch
1 bay leaf/ tezpat
1 tablespoon garlic chopped
1 tablespoon ginger paste
1 green chili chopped
1-1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric/ haldi
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder/ zeera powder
1/4 teaspoon 7 spices powder/ garam masala
31/2 cups water
Directions:
Wash and soak the rice in about 2 cups of water at least for 20 minutes. Drain the liquid out of the can of chickpeas and wash the chickpeas well. Heat the oil in a saucepan and add cumin seeds, black peppercorn, bay leaf, cinnamon stick. when seeds cracks right away oil is ready then add onion and brown and then add garlic/ginger. Fry for 2 minutes and then add chickpeas, tomatoes, all powder spices, peppers and water. Once water is boiled add your rice. Don’t stir the rice in between they will get mushy check the rice in about 10 minutes then cover and cook until the rice is tender and the water has evaporated.
