Green Split Peas lentils Sabz Chilkewali Moong Dal Recipe
Ingredients:

1 cup split green pes (chilkewali moong dal)
-
1 teaspoon turmeric (haldi)
-
1/4 teaspoon 7 spices powder (garm masala)
-
1 teaspoon red chilli powder (lal mirch)
-
1 tablespoon coriander powder (dhania powder)
-
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder (zeera powder)
-
1 tablespoon minced garlic (lehsan)
-
1 tablespoon minced ginger (adrak)
-
1/2 cup chopped onions (pyaz)
-
1 cup chopped tomatoes (tamater)
-
1 ½ teaspoons salt or to taste (namak)
-
1 teaspoon mustard seeds (rai)
-
1-2 curry leaves (kari pata)
-
1 teaspoon cumin seeds (sabut zeera)
-
2-4 dry red chillies (sooki lal mirch)
-
1 small cinnamon stick (dal chini)
-
Pinch of asafoetida (hing)
-
Oil (teal)
-
Water (pani)
Directions:
In a pot add some oil and add all the whole dry spices, garlic, ginger, onions, tomatoes, dry powder spices, asafoetida and mix well and dry mixture.
Combine the lentils and 4 cups water in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Adjust the heat so the mixture bubbles gently and cook covered for 30 minutes, Once the lentils are tender then add the spicy mixture to the pot and mix well. Cook for another 10 minutes. Garnish and serve hot with bread or rice.
