Dhaba Style Chicken Karahi Recipe


  • 3 cups chicken
  • 2 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 3-4 chopped tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 4-5 whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon 7 spices powder
  • water


Wash the chicken pieces in cold water and drain. Place the chicken pieces in a wok.

Add oil, tomatoes, ginger, garlic and mix well. after a minute add salt, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cloves, bay leaf, turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, chilli powder and add water.

Mix well and add a cup of water, cook until the liquids from the mixture dry up and the mixture is oil separated. Keep stirring from time to time so mixture does not stick. Add 7 spices and mix well, cook for another 5 minutes on low heat. Garnish with thinly sliced ginger or cilantro. Serve with naan or with rice.
