Vegan Spinach & Split Peas Palak Dal Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chopped spinach frozen (palak)
  • 2 cups split yellow gram soaked and drained (chana dal)
  • Salt to taste (namak)
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds (rai)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (zeera)
  • 2-3 dry red chillies (sukhi mirch)
  • 2 chicken cubes
  • 1 1/2 ginger paste (adrak)
  • 1 1/2 garlic paste (lehsan)
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder (lal mirch)
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder (dhania)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste (tamater paste)
  • 1 cup finely chopped onions (pyaz)
  • 1 chopped tomato (tamater)
  • Oil (teal)
  • 1 cup water

Directions:

Add oil to a pan and stir fry the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, dry chillies for 15 seconds. Add onions to the mix and saute until translucent and add garlic, ginger, spices, tomato paste, split peas, chicken cubes and water.
Cook until split peas are cooked and stir in the spinach. Cook for another 15 minutes and serve hot with naan or rice.
