Masoor Dal Pulao Red Lentil Rice Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups basmati rice (chawal)
1 cup red lentil (masoor dal)
1 tablespoon cumin seeds (zeera)
1 medium onion chopped (pyaz)
2 bay leafs (teejh pat)
2 green cardamom (sabz ilachi)
1 black cardamom (kali ilachi)
2 small cinnamon pieces (dal chini)
1/4 teaspoon turmeric (haldi)
1 tablespoon garlic minced (lehsan)
2 green chillies thinly sliced (sabz mirch)
1 tablespoon ginger grated (adrak)
1 teaspoon 7 spices (garam masala)
1 teaspoon red chilis (lal mirch)
Salt to taste (namak)
3 cups water
Directions:
In a pot add oil and saute cumin seeds, bay leaf, black cardamom, green cardamom, cinnamon sticks. Saute for 2 minutes and add onions. Fry onions until brown and add ginger, garlic paste. Add the lentils and rice. Give it a mix and saute for another min or two until the rice gets aromatic. Add water and green chilis. Cover and cook for 8-10 minutes or until the rice is cooked. Serve with yogurt salad.
